I guess I don't talk about it much on the blog, but I'm a Christian (and proud to be :)). Yesterday we went to visit "Noah's Ark", a real full-size replica of the Ark that Noah built, commissioned by God. Why was this replica built? (Quote from the website:) "It was built by Johan Huibers, a contractor from a small village in the province of North Holland. In 1992, he dreamt that waves from the ocean washed over the Netherlands during a storm. The dream was followed by even more signs, meaning he had to rebuild the Ark. However, this time the Ark was not meant to save people from a global flood as Noah did 4,000 years ago, but to tell people that there is a God who loves us, and that He has a plan for our lives"
I cannot tell you how impressive it was to see that Noah built all of this, without the modern tools we have now. And even now, it took the builders 4 years to construct this replica. It is 30 metres wide (98 ft and 5 something inches), 23 metres high (75 feet and 5 something inches), and 135 metres long (442 ft 10 inches)! It has really shown me once again how great God is, and how lucky I am to know Him in my life.
If you're ever in the Netherlands, do visit! You can find more information on www.arcofnoah.org or www.arkvannoach.com.

And God
said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and
every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set
my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the
earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I
will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature
of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all
flesh. When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the
everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is
on the earth.”
- Genesis 9:12-16

This is really true testament to God's power. Its just so surreal that anyone could build something of this magnitude without modern day technology, Noah didn't need technology though because he had the Lord. Thanks so much for this. The color of the dress looks great on you, your posts this summer have had me longing for warm summer days this side (South Africa) and finally winter is on its way out this side! I've gotten a lot of fashion inspiration from your blog for the summer:)
ReplyDeleteYes it really is. Glad you liked this post. You really are too sweet, glad I could inspire you for the summer!

How amazing is that ark! Can you even imagine being on it for 40 days, in the scary pouring rain, not knowing where you would land or what would be left? Or even if you would ever land? And the smell? And you look lovely, by the way. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeletePretty amazing huh Sara? You know, he wasn't even on it for 40 days, it just kept raining for 40 days. He was on that Ark for about 370 days! Wow, full year round! That's why the Lord is so great, cause any normal person wouldn't last that long (in the smell, lol).
DeleteAnd thanks, you have a blessed day too!
